President of ImagineNations Named Co-Chair of YEN Panel
PASADENA, Md. (1 December 2004) — Rick
Little, ImagineNations™ Group President and CEO, has been
named a new co-chair of the Youth Employment Network’s
(YEN) high-level
panel, along with Gheeta Rao Gupta, Ph.D.
The YEN was established by the secretary-general
of the United Nations and initially created under the impetus
of the Millennium
Declaration. It is the first partnership between the secretary-general’s
office, the World Bank and the International Labour Organisation
(ILO), focusing on youth.
At the invitation of the secretary-general
of the United Nations, the director-general of the ILO and the
president of the World
Bank, 12 leaders and policy experts in the fields of employment,
labor and youth development from throughout the world were appointed
in 2001 as members of the High-Level Panel on youth employment.
The Panel advises these institutions and the UN General Assembly
on youth employment policy, as well as mobilize opinion and action
in favor of youth employment worldwide, especially in developing
countries where the majority of unemployed youth are struggling
to overcome poverty in the informal economy.
