ImagineNations Announces $50 Million Commitment
at Annual Clinton Global Initiative Event
PASADENA, Md. (22 September 2006) — ImagineNations, in partnership with Mercy Corps, Omidyar Network and the Nike Foundation, among others, today announced a 5-year commitment for youth entrepreneurship and enterprise development at the annual meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative held in New York.
“As part of the second annual meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative, ImagineNations and Mercy Corps, in partnership with Omidyar Network and the Nike Foundation, among others, have committed to create a commercially viable network of funds over the next five years,” said Alan Fleischmann, managing director of ImagineNations. “The network will leverage at least $50 million through ImagineNations’ and Mercy Corps’ global network of up to 20 microbanks and other financial institutions that will invest in youth entrepreneurship and enterprise development, with an emphasis on fostering the economic power of young women and girls.”
The three-day annual meeting of its Clinton Global Initiative members inspired 262 commitments.
ImagineNations is an active member of the Clinton Global Initiative, a non-partisan catalyst for action, bringing together a community of global leaders to devise and implement innovative solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges. The Initiative requests specific, action-oriented commitments from each member, helping to solve problems and improve lives around the world, through focused efforts to combat climate change, improve global health, alleviate poverty and use religion as a force for reconciliation.
